Exciting Life Updates and What to Expect in 2026!

Over the course of the last few years, a lot changed in my life. I went to school to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I graduated from my program (with Honors). A few months later, I took the hardest test I ever have had to take to earn my license to practice Occupational Therapy and earned my certification.

I am now engaged, however, I can’t get legally married thanks to the disability benefits system (we’ll visit that topic later) and I spent a full year dealing with health concerns ultimately from my old wheelchair attacking me. Another way the health care system is reactive and not proactive. Another story I will eventually get to when we talk about how health care rules do not make any sense fiscally or for patient health.

So, now I’m here. Not able to use my degree because I’d lose my services but healthy enough to want to work on SOMETHING. I’m writing out blog posts for the next year – one a week – in advance so there will always be content and I won’t have to try to play catch up. I’m also working on the scariest part of how content creation works in 2025 – video. So in the near future, I’ll be launching Just Wheel Life in video form. My goal is to post the first video in February.

What is Next?

This blog is still about disability and life for the most part, but I now have a degree to add my love for occupational therapy. Upcoming topics include: Why is Advocacy important? Who can advocate? What does advocacy look like? How do you advocate for yourself in a professional setting, a medical setting, a school setting? Blog posts will be every Wednesday from now on.

If you’re still here, thank you. I’ll see you next week!
